英式定时插座 Timer Socket AL-06E

英式定时插座 Timer Socket AL-06E

There are times when the internet speed suddenly slows down, that I have to turn off my modem and router, and then restart them again. As this happens quite often, and I have tried many ways of solving the problem, I finally come to the conclusion that a Timer Socket should be of great help.

So. I went to the Tao Bao market and bought this socket, Timer AL-06E :

This Timer costs me around ¥30.

Before Use

Inside the Timer there is a built-in rechargeable battery which is used as a backup power source. When the wall socket is powered off, it can still display time, and keep data storage for more than six months.

The backup battery needs to be charged for approximately 12 hours before the Timer can be used. To do this, I plug the Timer into a regular household power point and turn the power on. After charging it for approximately 12 hours, I use a toothpick to press the ‘R’ button to clear all current information.

Setting the time for the Timer

After charging the backup battery, the first thing to do is to set up the current time for the built-in clock. The procedures are as follows:

- Press and hold the ‘Clock’ button to perform the following:

- Press the ‘Week’ button until the current day is displayed

- Press the ‘Hour’ button until the current hour is displayed

- Press the ‘Minute’ button until the current minute (approximate) is displayed

- Release the Clock button, the Timer will then function as a clock.

N.B. for rapid setting, hold the buttons.

The built-in Programs

  • The Timer has 16 program settings. By pressing the ‘Prog’ button repeatedly, we can see them one by one.

  • When the ‘Prog’ button is pressed and then released for its first time, the first program with an ON setting will pop up (‘1 on’ displayed on the LCD); if you press it again, the first program with the OFF setting is obtained (‘1 off’ displayed); pressing it further, the second, the third and so forth will be displayed.

Ways of Setting the Week Day(s)

After choosing a program setting (e.g. '1 ON' or '2 OFF'), pressing the ‘Week’ button lets you choose your preferred weekday or a block of weekdays.

The Timer provides 15 combinations of weekday or blocks of weekdays.

- It allows you to choose a single weekday from Monday to Sunday,

- It also allows you to choose any block of weekdays from the following:

  • (MO, TU, WE, TH, FR),

  • (SA, SU),

  • (MO, TU, WE, TH, FR, SA),

  • (MO, WE, FR), ( TU, TH, SA),
