What is Ace Stream?

Ace Stream is an innovative multimedia platform of a new generation. It is a peer-to-peer multimedia streaming protocol, built using BitTorrent technology, and has been recognized as a potential method for broadcasting and viewing bootlegged live video streams. The protocol functions as both a client and a server. When users stream a video feed using Ace Stream, they are simultaneously downloading from peers and uploading the same video to other peers.

Ace Stream is one of the most popular applications of the moment, especially among soccer and live sports fans. And this exceptional app has already been crowned by its own merits as the favorite for watching all kinds of matches, movies and series in streaming. The wide variety of content it offers, the ease of use and, of course, the fact that it is totally free.

One of AceStream’s strong points is its ease of use.

How does AceStream work?

AceStream is not only a good program for streaming videos,  it is also very easy to use. That is why in a very short time it has become one of the most downloaded applications on the Internet.

Another point that makes Ace Stream very attractive is the enormous video quality it offers. From the app you will enjoy real FullHD.

Another fact that makes Ace Stream very popular is that it is a platform widely used by sports lovers, especially soccer. Since the platform’s content comes directly from its users, there are many AceStream channels used mainly for live streaming of La Liga soccer matches and major events.

History

Ace Stream began under the name TorrentStream as a pilot project to use BitTorrent technology to stream live video. In 2013 TorrentStream, was re-released under the name ACE Stream.

How to install Acestreamplayer on Arch Linux or its derivatives

Acestreamplayer is a snap.

A snap is a bundle of one or more applications (“apps”) and their dependencies that works without modification across many different Linux distributions. They update automatically and roll back gracefully.

Before installing a snap, the snap daemon, known as snapd, is needed to be installed first. Snapd is the background service that manages and maintains the snaps. It needs to be running before a snap can be installed.

Command lines for installation:

git clone https://aur.archlinux.org/snapd.git
cd snapd
makepkg -si

the systemd unit that manages the main snap communication socket also needs to be enabled:

sudo systemctl enable --now snapd.socket

To enable classic snap support, enter the following to create a symbolic link between /var/lib/snapd/snap and /snap:

sudo ln -s /var/lib/snapd/snap /snap

You need to wait for a while to ensure snap’s paths are updated correctly.

sudo snap install acestreamplayer

Snaps are updated automatically. However, to manually check for updates, type:

sudo snap refresh vlc

If a newer version of the snap is available, it will be downloaded and installed.
